CENTURION  BOATS

“World Championship Towboats.”

Ski Centurion Boats began as a high-performance California dream of drag boat champion Rick Lee. Shortly thereafter, that dream was realized when the first factory appeared on the towboat radar in 1979 in Merced. It was here that Ski Centurion Boats began its long tradition of innovation and attention to detail. Since its founding, the factory has evolved into a popular forum for designers and craftsmen to collaborate and talk shop.

And for good reason. In nearly 30 years, the Fineline Industries West factory has grown to include a 121,000 square-foot facility, complete with CNC machines and on-site lake testing. More recently, Fineline Industries expanded across the United States with the opening of a state-of-the-art facility in Woodland, North Carolina, in February 2000. There, a 40-acre site provides another onsite test facility complete with a record tournament-approved slalom course, and lakefront housing development for key personnel. Fineline East houses the most modern boat construction process in the watersports industry. Each Ski Centurion Boat is vigorously lake-tested at one of these private lakes. During testing, every engine is fine-tuned, components are lightened and speed adjustments are made using state-of-the-art computer and GPS technology. Today, with over 100 dealers in the United States and Canada, Ski Centurions expansion has allowed us to deliver a quality ski and wakeboard boat.

Construction of Ski Centurion Boats

Building Ski Centurion Boats means utilizing the most advanced technology to produce World Championship watercraft. That includes top-performing, hydrodynamic engines, as well as innovations like snap-out carpets, accessible coolers, rigid frames and gelcoat graphics.

Construction begins outside-in, with our Integrated Composite System. I.C.S is a 100% composite design that makes Ski Centurion Boats as strong as a tank and ultra light, utilizing a three-piece construction process – hull, inner liner and deck. During this process, gelcoat colors and full-contour graphics are sprayed into the molds, which ensure our ski and wakeboard boat accents and graphics last all the way to the horizon.

After the Ski Centurion gelcoat, fiberglass is applied, giving the three I.C.S. components solid form. Once dry, the deck, hull and liner are removed from their molds and placed together. First, the inner liner is placed into the hull and bonded using a material called Plexus, which fuses fiberglass, creating an unbreakable seal. Afterwards, the inner liner is injected with floatation foam to reduce noise and vibration, and then those injection points are sealed with more fiberglass, ensuring that there is no exposure to water during your runs.

Electrical wiring, gas tanks, and underwater gear components are installed in the boat before the final I.C.S. pieces are added. At this point, the deck is placed on the hull piece using a "Reverse Shoebox" method, which reduces the influx of water into the boat through the rubrail and creates the strongest bond possible. Plexus is applied to the hull lip and the deck is lowered down. The hull and deck are then tightened together using stainless steel screws, allowing the Plexus to take affect.

Once complete, the Mercruiser Engine is added to the Ski Centurion. During lake tests, it is fine-tuned, components are tightened and speed adjustments are made using the finest computer and GPS technology. Finally, upholstery is installed to the seat bases, the body is waxed and buffed, and decals are placed in their respective positions, completing our unparalleled construction.
